What is Family Supports and Recreation?



Family Supports provides various resources to families and participants including community integration opportunities through our recreation program. Our recreation program assists individuals with disabilities access the community in a fun and safe way.



 



What does a Family Support and Recreation Coordinator do?



The Family Supports and Recreation Coordinator works closely with the Program Director of Family Supports and Recreation to offer and support individuals with disabilities in-community recreation and integration. The staff will oversee and facilitate the participants in weekend recreation activities including, but not limited to, theater performances, art exhibits, festivals, and sporting events. The Family Supports and Recreation Coordinator also facilitates evening events including dances and intramural leagues for bowling. This position also works with the Program Director to provide resources to families of individuals with disabilities in other capacities and perform case management type duties as needed. The Family Support and Recreation Coordinator plans, creates, and distributes the schedule and newsletter for the program. The schedule for this position is flexible, with Saturdays required. 



 



Qualifications and Skills:




  • Must pass background checks and pre-employment screenings including TB test and CORI.

  • High School Diploma required; Bachelors in related field preferred but not required (experience can substitute for degree)

  • Basic computer skills using Microsoft Office, email communication, internet, ADP payroll app

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively collaborate with program participants and fellow staff

  • Compassionate, resourceful, and eager to learn.

  • Physical demands may include frequent standing, pushing, pulling, walking, stooping, lifting and/or twisting

  • Valid driver's license and reliable personal vehicles meeting state requirements.
